Hi, I am appealing a decision made for my 7 year old child who suffers with and illness that affects her motor skills and struggles daily. She has been refused on the basis that shes a 7 year old and at this age its a parent who assists them so no special circumstances. It affects her walkin for a longer period holding a spoon/ pen but they dont seem to grasp this and assume due to her age she is relying on an adult. How do i word my appeal to get my point across for my appeal to have a chance?

Hello @Ariel77 and a warm welcome to the community. Glad you have found us.
I can't advise directly as I'm not a specialist in this area, but we do have people who are and who will get back to you. Please bear with us.
You might find some useful information, however, in the Talk about PIP/DLA forum, especially under the first link to PIP Frequently Asked Questions. Please have a look and see what you think.
    Warmest best wishes to you,
    Richard

    Welcome to the community!!

Look at the criteria for DLA. Decide which rate fits her needs the most. Then find a guide online that helps parents to fill out the form. Read the tips for completing the paperwork. Explain as much as possible about your child’s needs. Send photocopies of any medical reports and letters from specialists with the form too (this will serve as back up evidence that supports your claim). Obtain face to face advice and information in advance of any appeal. At any appeal I also strongly recommend having someone else with you for moral support.

    Good luck!!
