Don't give up on claiming PIP!

Hi just wanted people to know not to give up on claiming pip.i first got high rate care and low rate mobility and after going to Atos for my review i went from 26 points altogether to just 2 so i lost it all. I applied for a tribuneral hearing and after a whole year i have eventually won my case and have been awarded enhanced rate on both. The tribuneral was a little daunting and i ended up having a break down whilst being interviewed but it was worth it in the end. I suffer from fibro mialga and depression with ptsd and its been a year of hell. Keep fighting for what you deserve and dont give up no matter how hard it is.

Members now read so much of the opposite side of benefit claims that it will be heartening to many to feel that they CAN win. You have done us all a service in 'fighting the fight'.

    Thankyou.i had a rep from Welfare Rights to represent me and she was very understanding and helpful.
    When i went for review at Atos the lady who interviewed me put down so much that it didnt even seem that they were talking about me.She said i went alone which i didnt .
    She said i could raise my arms but i had frozen shoulder so it was inpossible.
    Keep fighting the fight and if your genuine and honest at the tribuneral you will get what you are entitled to .Hope this helps.

    That is the crux of the problem for many. 1000's like myself have to 'go it alone' from completing the claim form, gathering the evidence, attending a face to face assessment, putting in an MR and attending a tribunal.

    If there were more advice agencies to take the load off you and represent your rights then there would be more successful claims/decisions.

    So glad for your 'win'.

    I realised you are best telling them the things you say you cant do you say you can do but it takes a lot longer than a well person could do.also the things like going out to unfamiliar places causing stress and anxioty ;i told them the truth and said if i could avoid a situation like that then i will.when i went for interview they asked how i felt being there and i ended up breaking down saying i was out of my comfort zone and was only there because i had to be.

    Well done on getting what you should have got.
    The only sad part is that it took a whole year to get to this stage.
    How long was the award for originally? 

    @Yadnad agreed here. Some people are left to try and do it all themselves. 
    I think some are paying to be represented at the cost of £300.
    Some cab people do not understand the system either. I recall being on dla and they had no understanding of some premium I was on- could I get rid of it as it causing my problems!!  :# seriously they said this.
