Essentially safeguarding means making sure that you (the vulnerable adult) is reasonably protected from danger. Under the act any unpaid carer/support worker is legally required to ensure that the disabled child or adult is able to access good quality medical care. In the case of a physically disabled adult a support worker may need to make sure that the vulnerable adult does not fall or get injured that’s it. For mentally disabled people who are automatically more vulnerable a support provider is supposed to help them be aware of scammers and scams and potential abusers too.
