Contribution based ESA suddenly dropped due to pension

Hi, I have been awarded contribution esa, I get a small monthly pension which at first didn't effect my esa but now all of a sudden my esa has been significantly dropped n the only reason I got was that other money that I recieve has been taken into account, I've got no idea what they are on about, it can only mean that they mean my pension, I was lead to believe that my pension does not effect my esa, I get told one thing then the complete opposite happens, what can I do about it?

Any pension that's over £85 per week will affect your ESA 50p for every £1 over £85. So, for example if your pension is £100 per week then your ESA will be reduced by £7.50 per week. Any Income related top up for ESA that you may have been receiving will be affected £1 for £1 by your pension.

Bloody nonsense isnti it. Work like a slave to get pension then when you do take it usually early due to ill health, they want it back!!!!! Not like the scroungers who've never paid in so don't affect them they'll get full pension whatever!!!! Just a little rant ?

Scroungers? that's a little harsh don't you think? Some people don't have the opportunity to be able to work to pay into a pension! Some people out there have life time disabilities which means they're unable to work! The other person will still get full pension but their ESA will be reduced if the pension is over the amount stated.
