Hip arthroscopy

Has anyone with v mild CP had a hip arthroscopy ? My main problem is my right leg and the way I walk with the CP has affected my hip. I am due to have the op early next year but the surgeon isn’t sure how my hip will react in comparison to others with non CP hips and muscles. Nor is the physio . My main issue is will I be able to climb the stairs to get to bed or do I need to get a bed put downstairs ? Don’t want to be lazy but equally don’t want to be in a mess afterwards if leg won’t get going. Stairs are normally a bit of a nightmare at best of times hence the question , but appreciate that at least been offered the op

Hi @RegIm sorry to hear you are due to have surgery, I don't know much about hip arthroscopy and how it will affect your mobility but if you do need some help, speak to your GP if you need equipment at home or to help you get around. They can tell you about local sources of help or refer you to your local Social Services or NHS.
Your local disability information and advice line may also have details of organisations in your area that hire wheelchairs and mobility scooters. It may also be worth exploring grants.I also saw this stair steady that looks like a great product to help with climbing stairs.@Richard_Scope can you help at all?

Hi @RegGood to meet you and thanks to @Sam_Scope for including me into this conversation. As you have probably been told Hip arthroscopy is a surgical procedure that allows doctors to view your hip joint without making a large incision (cut) through the skin and other soft tissues. Arthroscopy is used to diagnose and treat a wide range of hip problems. In terms of recovery, you will undergo 6 weeks of physiotherapy and will need to use crutches. As you know everybody's CP is different but as with all surgeries the healthier and fitter you are beforehand the quicker the recovery time.Really happy to discuss your concerns further.
