Advice for ESA interview?

Hi I'm looking for advice. My son is 25.When he was younger he had a diagnosis of ADHD and aspergers. A few years ago he received diagnosis of anxiety and depression. Although he lives by himself it is very much with support from me (I work full time) Joshua was in receipt of DLA and this went over to ESA (support group) He recently had to fight to get an ward for PIP (tribunal). he has been called in for an ESA interview. I will go with him but would welcome any advice anyone has to offer. Thank you (We are in Scotland if that makes any difference)

Hi,

During the assessment he's be asked questions on how his conditions affect him and he'll be assessed on his ability to do any type of work. Unless you're his appointee then he'll have to answer all the questions himself but you maybe be able to prompt him, although this will depend on the HCP on the day.

Evidence should have already been sent to support his claim because they very rarely contact anyone for this, the onus is always on the claimant to make sure it's sent.

Is he already in a group for ESA or on assessment rate? If he's already in a group then it will be worth knowing the reasons why he was previously put into that group.

About a week after the assessment he can ring DWP to ask for a copy of the assessment report to be sent to him, this will give him some idea what the decision is likely to be as they mostly go with the report. There's no timescales for decisions, it depends on backlog in his area.

When you say he transferred from DLA to ESA this is incorrect because they're 2 different benefits. He would have transferred from DLA to PIP.
