Hello I’m a 17 year old who has troubles with keeping socks for more than a month I pick my socks until they are gone and can’t stop I need some ways to stop or what do I have

Ya I tear string and keep pulling string until the Sock is gone

Have you heard of 'stimming'? The term "stimming" is short for self-stimulatory behavior and usually refers to specific behaviors that include hand- flapping, rocking, spinning, or repetition of a word or act. Lots of people think this sort of behaviour is about self soothing and self calming. Do you think this could relate to you?
I also wondered if your socks are particularly annoying or irritating on your feet? Do you pick at them to make them softer or get rid of the seams? If so you can buy sock without seams that some people find much easier to wear.
Have you tried having a piece of fabric that you can use to pick at when you get the urge?
Also have you ever spoken to anyone else about this?0
