Hi to all,
I have been to the doctors twice this week with diorhhea for the past 3 weeks and lower left sided pain given tabs for IBS and diorheea still getting lots of pain when I go to the loo for a BM I have been 3 times today.
I have had lortab and gabapentin not helping for pain at all.
I don't have a gastroenterology appointment till July that's ages away.
What can I do about this it's really annoying and stressing me out.

Hi @brighthouse500 having looked at what you have been prescribed and as I suffer from this myself, I believe you need to go see your GP again and request an antispasmodic like Buscopan or Mebeverine, You can buy Buscopan over the counter. The 2 meds you are prescribed are both pain killers but aren't really getting to the route of the problem to be honest. Pain is very debilitating and I'm not surprised you are getting stressed out about this and not having a GE appointment until July is unacceptable tbh. I'd speak to PALs at your local hospital and see if you can be seen sooner?0

Jim Mick Cannon,
I have had buscopan it didn't work for me at all.
I am better than I was but don't know how long it will last for.

Hi @brighthouse500, I’m sorry to hear you’re in so much pain and your specialist appointment is so far away.
Unfortunately we’re not qualified to give medical advice here.
I agree with @MickConnon, if the medication isn’t working for you or helping with the pain, do try and get back to see your GP.0 -
Hi @brighthouse500 and @Adrian_Scope just catching up with this post whilst working nights just now. I hope that you have managed to get in touch with your GP to get this GE appointment brought forward. July does seem a long time away especially when the pain you are suffering appears to be bad.0

Sorry to hear that you are going through a bed time with IBS. I was prescribed Buscapan when I was first diagnosed with IBS it worked for a while. Then I had a bad time with the IBS, where I could hardly eat anything, I was then prescribed Mebervine, I have been much better since taking these, it might be worth a try to see how you get on with Mebervine. Also have you heard of the Fodmap diet? my GP told me about it. You can find it through Google. I found the Fodmap diet very helpful as it gave me an idea as to what triggered my IBS, so I now know what foods to avoid.0
