I’m 56 and cannot work due to Fibromyalgia and Polymyalgia. I get PIP and do not get any benefits because my family income is too high which means my NI contribution doesn’t get paid. This means I get no help toward my pension. Is there anything I can do about this?

Hello @Rainbow62 Pleased to meet you welcome.

Thank you for your question. I do not know. Understand the problems and issues. There will be members of our team or a member of our community.
Be able. advise you.
I would suggest speak to CAB. They have knowledge, experience of any benefit and pension.
Hope that helps.
Please take care.

Hi @Rainbow62
A very warm welcome.
I am almost certain, though ESA is not in pay, you are still entitled to NI credit.
Take a close look at the letter from the DWP about your ESA claim.
I am tagging your post for @poppy123456, she is more expert than me.
Hope this helps.0 -
Hi @Rainbow62
Just another suggestion for you to consider.
There was big changes to the State Pension In 2016, a reduction in qualifying years and increase in basic pension.
To find out how these changes affect you, you can call the Future Pension Centre on 0800 731 0175.
You ask for a pension forecast and it will be posted to your home.
Let us know how you get on.
My wife did this last year and she was pleasantly surprised.0 -
i have now found out that I qualify for a full state pension so that takes the worry off. Thank you all so much for your help and I will be following up your suggestions1

Hi,I'm sorry, i didn't see this until now. Yes indeed you now only need 35 qualifying years of NI contributions for state pension. I'm glad you're all sorted Rainbow62.0
