Cerebral palsy and not gaining weight

Hi All,

I have cerebral palsy, and I have never being able to gain much weight ever since I was a child although I eat healthy and try to exercise.  I'm wondering, is there is a link between cerebral palsy and not being able to gain weight?

Could it be that I have a very high metabolism which means I burn whatever I eat rather quickly?

I appreciate your input.

    Hi @humble_rumble and it's great to see you around the community already! I believe cerebral palsy itself would not stop you from gaining weight. However, as a result of CP we can use between 3-5 times more energy doing any task which often explains the fatigue and could mean we burn food a lot quicker.

    As @Chloe_Scope has already mentioned we do burn energy a lot quicker than non-CP people. Body type is also determined by our genetics as well. If it is really causing you concern I would speak to your G.P. and get referred to a dietician or nutritionist.

    Thank you @Chloe_Scope and @Richard_Scope  for your insights I will try to discuss it with my GP and neurologist when I see them next.
