Trochanteric bursitis

Hi guys, I've recently been diagnosed with trochanteric bursitis with a possible gluteal tear? I've been practically bed bound for the last year but feel I've had these symptoms for a few years that were missed because I also have a failed fusion and sijd and the pain was always put down to that. It's been hell! My physio called me yesterday and told me I have Cartlidge changes in my hip and soft tissue damage, he couldn't say anymore as he's not a radiologist but it was to reassure me I wasn't going insane (I swear I started to think it was in my head and I was going mad) I've now been referred to a hip specialist who deals with young females hips, I'm 48. Has anyone got any advice on how to slow these changes down and help with the pain? I have a burning pain that starts from under my ribs around the crest bone, groin, butt, hip??? I'm going out of my mind it's affecting my mental health as well as my physical?

Unfortunately anything concerning your medical condition you should speak to your GP. We as a community can not advise on your medical condition.

Hi @cat88 and a very warm welcome to the community!
I'm so sorry to hear that you believe this has been missed and that it is causing you so much pain! Has medication being able to help at all?
I get really bad hip pain which is caused from cerebral palsy, I heavily rely on heat packs and hot water bottles to manage this. Have you found that heat or ice helps?
I hope you are not waiting too long for this referral and that they'll be able to provide support. Please do let us know how you get on.0 -
Great to have you with us @cat88. Obviously as we're not medical experts here, there's a limit to what we can suggest, but I hope what's suggested might help.
Let us know how your referral goes and if you need anything else we'll do our best to support you.0
