Paying for a carer

can anyone please help i claim esa and pip up to 4 years since i had a paid carer but as he reached 65 and got his pension he could not claim carers allowance i just wondered as i have been told i can claim the money to pay a carer to come and see to my daily needs is this true thanks for reading.

D you mean the person was claiming carers allowance for looking after you? If so then once a person claim state pension they can no longer claim carers allowance because they are overlapping benefits but they may still have an underlying entitlement to it, which means other benefits could be increased. Was it your partner that was receiving the carers allowance for looking after you?

HI, my hubby claimed CA. as he was under pension age, but didnt work as I need full time care. But when he became state pension age, he lost it.
I have carers which I pay via Direct Payments.

You do need a Social Services assessment for this, as Poppy says.
