on/off switch electric wheelchair

hi im severely disabled wheelchair bound 24/7 i have invacare spectra plus electric wheelchair im having difficulty switching it on and off my hands are to deformed to press the button my local authority said there is a switch called a buddy button there is an 8months waiting list meantime does anyone know how i can get the on and off switch to work easier thank you
