We have previously been exempt from car tax through DLA but we now have PIP - does anyone know if DVLC will automatically pick up this change or do we need to apply again? Thanks in advance.

@SteveE, hello, your car tax will continue as normal, when your car tax is due for renewal just do it as usual at post office or online and enter your PIP excemption ref number and the DVLA will acknowledge your excemption and all will be ok

Your entitlement stays the same, you don't have to do anything.

Wondering if I could ask a question about dvla and car tax. On the website it states pip standard rate give a 50% reduction but have to apply at post office. But been to two different post offices and they no nothing about it? Sorry for the hijack but new here. Tia

I believe you have to be on the high rate to claim free car tax.

I had this problem when I was on the standard rate for PIP. The Post Office only deal with free car tax, not people who can get 50% off. For that you have to send a cheque to the DVLA.
This link explains what you have to do in detail: https://www.disabledmotoring.org/motoring/road-tax-50-reduction
