Considering appeal

My daughter has developed AIS (adolesent idiopathic scoliosis).  She is 12 and the severity at last x-ray 63 degrees and has recently deteriorated further. On the list for surgery. Constantly in pain. Exhausted when mobilising which deteriorate. We have applied for DLA refused. Mandatory consideration  still refused.  Considering appeal. They have not considered any of the further points I have put forward.  Any advice or support anybody can give please

    Hi @KJK - Welcome to the community, 'tho I'm sorry to read about your daughter's problems. Do you have a date for her surgery yet?

    Awaiting date.  Waiting to be seen again by surgeon and of January. She is on list

    Hi,

    It will depend when the surgery is planned for. Usually surgery is only done to improve a condition and with this surgery recovery can be quite quick. I knew someone who had this done a few years ago and they were back to normal activity very quickly afterwards, For DLA for a child the child must expect the condition to last at least 6 months. Only you can make the decision whether or not to appeal.
