Hello ! My name is Charlotte . I live in Rushden and have three children , a teen girl and two toddlers , one who is three and a half and one two and a half. My three year old has congenital muscular dystrophy and my two year old has recently had Crainiofacial surgery as his skull had fused together too soon and he may have autism . Hi @charlotteh1986 I’m also a Charlotte! My daughter is 3 and has cerebral palsy. It is tough sometimes and I do feel lonely sometimes as I only know one other mum who is in a similar situation and she moved away. Have you looked into if you have a carers centre nearby? Ours is full of friendly people and have a couple of sessions a week to drop into for a coffee and a chat.Happy to have a virtual chat and cuppa if you like!1

Hey. My name is Sarah, I live in Milton Keynes, my daughter is 15 months old and also has Congenital Muscular Dystrophy (merosin deficient). I've struggled to find anyone who truly understands what I'm going through. I have friends with kids but they all have typical development and so sometimes it's hard to be around them, watching their children run around together while my daughter just sits and watches!charlotteh1986 said:Hello ! HI Charlotte,
I'm Zoe, I live in Northampton. I have two children, 6 year old daughter and a nearly 3 year old son. My daughter has a number of conditions. I often feel quite lost and overwhelmed by it all. Today I had a referral phone call with Northamptonshire Carers. If you are in the Rushden in Northamptonshire (not heard of one anywhere else) then you might be able to also find some support from them - they run things for parents and have events and such like.

They have sent me out some information on access to legal services and some workshops that they have in Northampton and Kettering - though they are during business hours so might not suit if you have to work. I was kind of hoping that they would have some kind of group meet ups where you can switch off - I did some in Australia (recently moved back to the UK) that were more about chilling out than discussing your kids, we did painting classes and such like and they had on site child minders to keep an eye on your kids while you were there.Chloe_Scope said:Welcome to the community @DarwinianZed! Are you getting out much and interacting at all? It can be so hard managing everything. I've not really done any socialising or playgroups for my toddler for ages and I could do with it - if I can find the time....0 -
Thank you for updating us @DarwinianZed. Has the information been helpful?
