Hi All
I'm Bart.
I've just joined, so would like to say hello to everybody.
I have a query - which are the best councils for funding direct payments for the blind for core services.
I'm currently in Cambridgeshire. I understand from a contact at a major disability charity that the area is one of the worst areas to live if you are disabled and need to obtain direct payments funding for core services. The relevant council is Cambridgeshire County Council.
Would you recommend your local council for providing direct payments for disabled residents who need to fund core care/support services?
Please letme have your feedback.
It will help me in choosing where to move to in order to obtain good core care/support services.
Many Thanks in advance.
Bart

HI and welcome,I'm one of the community champions here on scope and i'm here to help and advise others.I really wouldn't advise you to base moving house on someone else's experience with personal budgets for direct payments because everyone's conditions are different. It will totally depend on what support/care you need and what the decision will be on that assessment you have.0

Hi PoppyMany thanks for your reply.I do agree with your general point.I'm just trying to get a feel for people's experiences with councils which are good for social care.If you are in an area with a good council for social care, it will make a big difference to your quality of life for the bettr.Similarly, the opposite is true with councils which are not good for social care. The gap between good and bad is huge. Also, I think you need to take a lot of other factors into account - which I am doing - such as healthcare, policing, local facilities etc.Regarding council performance for social care, I found these rankings interesting. I beleive the latest report is due out this month - Feb 2020.Thanks again for your reply.0
