Hi everyone, hope you are all keeping well, just to let you know I started my first session of the Bowen therapy today, felt weird in a good way, was told i should feel or notice some differences within 5-7days. Got my next session in a few weeks time, will update you all on how i go if anyone is interested, as you may want to give it ago... i did feel quite tired this afternoon, had a nap, it was much needed....

Whilst I hope the Bowen technique helps, there isn't much scientific/medical info that supports this. I've only found one study of non-professional athletes (without any medical problems) who undertook exercise each week, & in whom it was found that their range of movement, just looking at the hamstring muscles, increased slightly with the Bowen technique, which was still apparent 1 week later. The study concluded that, 'further research is needed.'Apparently it takes a minimum of 9 months to become a Bowen therapist. It was quite a while ago, but it took over 3 years for me to qualify as a physiotherapist. Bowen therapists also do not have a regulatory body, unlike physiotherapists.I would urge some caution, rather than 'give it a go', & rather discuss any problems with your GP or specialist to see what they advise.0

Do you have TM? Not sure if you are aware but physio has not started back up, where i was paying for it, neuro nurse has said to give anything a try, which i am, i have looked this up and read a lot about it, there seems to be a good success rate, whether it works for me i dont know, but negativity from someone promoting physio is not what i need mentally, unless someone is in someone's shoes, negative comments are not needed unless that person has tried it theirselves. I will update everyone whether it works for me or not....0

Hi @Transverse
Be very interested on how your treatment goes.
As a long term chronic pain sufferer you will try anything, that helps.
Having looked into Bowen Treatment, it is non-invasive and is very safe.Look forward to hearing from you in due course.
Best wishes0 -
I had no pain when this was being done, very gentle motions, im hoping my nerves will reboot as so to speak, its day2 since having this, i feel something going on inside, mainly my legs, all in a good way, only thing i noticed following morning after, i was not stiff like i am when i get up in the morning, which was a lovely feeling.. as the days go on i will let you know of any changes, but as for pain there was not an ounce of pain when she was doing this..0

@Transverse - Perhaps you will read my post again, which was a general & factual comment on this thread about Bowen therapy. Please note I wrote, 'Whilst I hope it helps' & I did not promote physiotherapy, rather I advised a person to, 'discuss any problems with your GP or specialist to see what they advise.'The study I mention was done by physiotherapists & the Director & Principal Instructor of the European College of Bowen Studies, who did all the Bowen techniques in this study. I found this on the College of Bowen Studies website on their 'Latest News' page dated July 2020. The full paper is available, which was published in July 2010. Please see: https://www.thebowentechnique.com/hamstring-study/I also looked into Bowen technique out of interest as a chronic pain sufferer, nothing more. I do hope it helps you.0
