Hello all, I hope you are all well? I am looking for some advice. I have been trying for 6 years to get my child at risk folder. But my New GP does not have it. I have also rang the social work. The health board. But still nothing ?. Do any of you know how I can get these records. Many Thanks Will x

Hi @Parrot123 - This isn't something I've come across before, so have tried to look online. If this is about yourself, then it seems such records should be kept until the person is 25 years old (altho in Northern Ireland the recommendation is until 30 years old). There do seem to be 'exceptions,' e.g. 'if the records provide information about a child’s personal history, which they might want to access at a later date...' so please look at the 'Exceptions' listed in the following link: https://learning.nspcc.org.uk/media/1442/child-protection-records-retention-and-storage-guidelines-september-2019.pdfIf these exceptions do not apply, it may be that such records have been destroyed by now, sorry.Perhaps your GP may have something in their medical records if concerns were raised. You can ask your GP for your medical records, if this might help. I'm sorry I haven't been more helpful, Will. Not the same I know, but about 10 years ago I tried to find out more about my adoption; the organisation I was adopted through had changed names, & altho they kindly searched for me, no files existed.

Hi @Parrot123, hope the responses so far have been helpful.
Just to let you know, I have moved this discussion to our disabled people category, hope that's okay.1 -

@chiarieds Thanks ? very much. My ex GP tried to give me them when I was 25. I read page 1 and ran out. Ty Will x0

Hi,It may also be that they won't allow you access to them because of the information held. Yes, we can access medical records but some could be held back.1

They can keep them from me?????? Social work on Monday ? tyvm. Will0

Yes they definitely can. If this is what they're doing then you won't have access to them for your safety.
