Another thread idea I had.

What opinions do you hold that are unpopular or that go against the vast majority?

They can be about anything from food to TV programs to politics to current issues but please keep it civil and respect everyone’s views. ;)

I think Doctor Who is absolute garbage.

    Interesting one @Adrian_Scope!

I don’t see the point in jewellery apart from a watch.

I think Marmite is okay. I don’t love it or hate it.

    Following on from the marmite...

I have no strong opinion of Donald Trump. I can take him or leave him. It seems most people either adore him or detest him! :D

I agree with doctor who and tbh anything sci fi its all fantasy and I prefer reality

I dont agree with how much money footballers and celebrities are paid there needs to be a better balance of earnings just my thoughts there are lots other people who contribute more to society and work harder but paid a lot less and even some are struggling financially

    @janer1967 that’s a good one

With footballers and celebrities it’s all supply and demand, the public choose to give them money, but I’ve thought what you say about middle manager types

As an example if a middle manager in the NHS is paid £50,000 and a nurse is paid £25,000, is the middle manager really worth 2 nurses? Are they really doing a job that’s worth twice as much as a nurse? Would the money be better spent on 2 nurses who could be saving lives?

@66Mustang I agree to a certain extent but the doctors have the knowledge to diagnose some do surgery and prescribe treatments.  Nurses however provide the day to day care on instruction from the doctors and patient needs . Nurses are certainly worth a higher level of pay than currently earning when their earnings are on par or lower than less skilled or less valuable to the community

Just remember we are just expressing our own opinions

I think that the Yeren, Yeti, Yowie, Skunk Ape, Woodwose, Rougarou and Sasquatch are from the genus, that of Gigantopithecus.

I don't like animals...  Can't stand Attenborough or farming programmes.  No interest in any sort of pet.  Don't understand the 'cute' aspect that other people seem to see.

I don’t like ‘the voice’ everyone seems to think a loud shouty voice is great. I don’t.

@Richard_Scope I think you may be right.

@janer1967 I’m not talking about doctors, I agree doctors do a good job, I’m talking about middle managers who sit in an office, I’d maybe replace some of them with front line staff

@OverlyAnxious that’s a good one, I’m not massively into animals myself. I didn’t used to mind Attenborough but I find him a bit preachy now!

I think that question was answered to my satisfaction, at least, in Psych season 7 episode 3.

Plenty: There should be no such thing as council housing, now there is housing benefit for those who need help paying rent, but only while they need that help, not giving someone a home at sometimes a tiny fraction of the true rent, to keep for their whole lives however rich they might later become.  They also can have a four bedroom house with garage as a reward for having lots of family members, and keep it the rest of their life even if after a family row they live alone, shortly after moving in (real life example personally witnessed)

Rental housing would be better pooled in a national resource, with private and council tenancies banished in favour of a national 'approved tenant' register, enabling people to choose the sort of housing suited to their changing needs, to stay in an area or often in a particular home for as long or as little as fits their wishes and requirements, so they can easily move at short notice to live near work opportunities, or near people who will help care for them or be cared for by them, or to escape a frightening situation.

The aim of the 'approved tenant' register would be that the government would underwrite the landlords for tenants who trash property and pay no rent, but would have the incentive to carefully identify the miscreant, in order to remove them from the list, but also to ensure they repay the costs of their actions.  They would also be unable to be problem neighbours, making lives hell and getting away with it because "we are council tenants, we can't be evicted because the council would have to put our kids in care and they dare not".  Now that people can be deported from the country after prison sentences and simply obtain fake papers and return instantly, it is essential that D.N.A. is used as I.D., never paperwork.
