I've been deaf in both ears since I was 8!

Topic.

Circa August 1984 or thereabouts, I had a bad bout of Chicken Pox and have been deaf ever since! At one bit I had 2 hearing aids and hated it because I was bullied at school, called stuff I doubt the Mods would thank me for repeating.

The Hospital has been trying to get me back to 2 hearing aids for years, and I've refused, In April 2019 I had a meeting up at the Hallamshire about possibly having a Cochlear implant fitted, but they decided the stress would be too much because I'd have to spend an overnight stay in a Hospital in Birmingham to have the Op.

Has anyone else had a similar experience?

    Yeah but you wouldn't have the faff of cancelling 2 care companies for 2 days.

    I would, plus if I cancel long term for any reason the social gets mardy about the funding.

    If its for treatment, I'm sure they would understand. I have hearing loss and would happily have treatment to try and rectify it. I was in hospital for 9 months, a few years ago, so to me, I'd gladly stay the 1-2 nights

    Hi I agree and would go for the treatment as your quality of life would be much better 

    You would get notice of the date so you could inform your carers . They must have this situation all the time and have a process in place

    Yeah but the manager of the morning care company has the communication skills of a Sheep, and that's being extremely kind! The post came this afternoon and I have a Hospital appointment next Wednesday morning up at the Hallamshire, the normal morning call with her staff is 9 while 10, so I rang up and asked to change the call to 8 while 9, now it's looking like I'll have to cancel and come back to my Parents' Tuesday night and go from theirs.
