Hi and welcome according to the internet if you are on UC and your payment is less than £435 you can get free prescription
This is only what I have read on internet tho some others may have more knowledge0 -
You have misunderstood what you read. Someone on UC is entitled to free prescriptions etc if their earned income is below a threshold in the most recent assessment period. The threshold is either £435 or £935 per month. It is not the UC amount that matters. The higher amount applies if LCWRA or a child is included in the award. If no one is in employment these thresholds are not relevant anyway.janer1967 said:Hi and welcome according to the internet if you are on UC and your payment is less than £435 you can get free prescription
Unfortunately however these rules do cause problems because claimants with variable income may qualify for free prescriptions in some months but not other which is both very unsatisfactory and can give rise to incorrect claims.
The rules are explained here https://www.nhsbsa.nhs.uk/help-nhs-prescription-costs/free-nhs-prescriptions/hwhc-universal-credit0 -
You've posted very useful things on other threads The advantage of a forum is that hopefully errors get spotted and corrected by others. I am certainly not immune to mistakes myself.janer1967 said:@calcotti thanks again for clarifying and correcting my post
I think I will leave the benefits queries alone from now on1 -
Hi @hello20 - I'm pleased that you have received helpful advice on this from @calcotti , which is confirmed here also: https://www.nhs.uk/nhs-services/help-with-health-costs/help-with-health-costs-for-people-getting-universal-credit/
