Coventry Youth Activists have their Facebook Takeover on Monday 1st March to tackle Facebook's reporting process that allows for disability hate speech to remain online. Often disability hate that is reported is not taken down by Facebook due to 'not breaching community standards'. We will be flooding Facebook with material and the ultimate aim is to secure a meeting with Nick Clegg, Facebook's vice president of communications, where we will share our key recommendations for change.

There are two asks we have of you to help us to achieve this.

1: Change your profile frame on Facebook or other social media. We can see how many people change it, so every person counts! I have attached your Scope logo with the frame on top (as pages can't upload temporary frames like people can, instead you can manually upload the framed profile for the day) Here is a link to the frame for you to include in the caption to call your followers to add the frame to their photo: www.facebook.com/profilepicframes/?selected_overlay_id=1080343792377231

2: Retweet our tweet to Nick Clegg. On Monday we will tweet Nick inviting him to speak to us. We need this to go viral! Please head to "Covactivists" on Twitter on Monday to retweet the message and call your followers to do the same.

    Thanks for sharing this @Richard_Scope

I think we are all in agreement that disability hate speech needs eradicating and anything I can do to support, I will.  Let's hope they get that meeting with Nick Clegg.

Also set myself a reminder for Monday so I can share this.

Such a huge issue, any kind of hate speech on social media should not be tolerated, I recall an incident recently where one of the big social media sites didn't remove racist language for the same reason, it didn't breech their guidelines.

I'll help in any way I can, hopefully Nick Clegg answers the message.
