We have been asked: "I
have had Cerebral Palsy since Birth. I am now 78 Years old and will be 79 in
July. Could you tell me if I am the oldest person with thus condition. If not
can you tell me the age of the longest living survivor of this condition?"
I think the oldest person we interviewed for Speaking for Ourselves was Gordon Taylor, who was born in 1924 and was interviewed in 2006 when he was 82.

Hello all.
I'm an activities co ordinator in a nursing home and one of my residents that has cerebral palsy is going to be turning 90 next month, june 2017, and I've made it my mission to find out if she is currently the oldest living person with cerebral palsy and would appreciate if anyone knows of anyone older.
Thank you in advance0 -
Hi,
My grandmother has cerebral palsy and will be 91 this coming July. We're wondering if she's the oldest living person with cerebral palsy! Would love to hear from more people,1 -
My Godmother will be 92 on 10th June this year. As far as I can find out she is the oldest person living now with Cerebral Palsy... I am happy to be corrected if I am wrong, our local paper were certainly interested though and are writing an article!
I did see a Youtube clip where someone had commented that her Mother-in-Law with CP had died about a year ago aged 96 and 3 months!2 -
I was just trying to find out the age of the oldest living person with CP (my mom is 83) and this popped up. This was waaaay easier than I thought it would be. Looks like she has a ways to go.0

Hi @LoriShepard
Welcome to the community. The oldest person I am aware of is 94 years old. However, 83 is impressive!

Is the person aged 94 still alive...? My Godmother (mentioned earlier) at 92 has now been featured in Take A Break as well as our local paper... If there is someone older alive it would be good to confirm.0

Sadly, I don't think they are.0

Proves the point that people with CP can live full and long lives.0

Hi everyone. I hope all the people referenced here 18 months ago are still going strong and very sorry if some have now passed.
I have a male friend with CP who will be 82 in July 2021. He wonders if he is the oldest gentleman in the UK with CP right now. Does anyone know? He'd love to find out.
He used to live in a Scope home but is living independently now.
thanks1 -
this is a really interesting thread, I have Spina Bifida and I sometimes wonder who is the oldest living UK resident or oldest in the world with this disability0

Hi @DBEastleigh
Thanks for your post and it is great to meet you. 82 years old this year is fantastic. The oldest person that I'm aware of is/was 94. There is also a lady that would be 93 now.1 -
Just to update the thread, my Godmother (with CP) is still going strong despite the pandemic. She is now 94. xx0

I am specifically interested in the oldest male with CP. My friend is keen to know if he is the oldest man with CP. He would love to do some media work on this with you if you wanted to.0 -
