Hi, i receive full disability and would like to apply for a mobility car but i do not know the process or how long it takes. can anyone please advise me

Marge best way is to look what type of car you want .
There is list of available cars on internet

Then contact local dealer ask for their motability specialist and they will sort it

There is lots info on the motability website as well

It can take a while depends on stock of car you want and if it needs any adaptions

I have just been reading some information on a facebook group and people are saying from contacting the dealer it took them two months to get the car, others have said one month and others have said three months. Seems very strnage to wait so long

If isnt strange to wait that long the car has to be ordered then made and probably shipped over

I've recently ordered a new car myself and been amazed at how long it takes to get a factory order. The transport alone takes about a month just from a German factory to a UK dealership.

The car itself only takes 2 days to be built, painted and assembled with todays production line speeds (under non-Covid times anyway). But there is currently a huge shortage of microchips in the automotive industry which is putting delays on factory orders from many manufacturers.

If you're not too fussy about engine, spec or colour and just want a particular model then you'll most probably find some in stock at the dealer ready for immediate collection if that's your preference. Sadly, they hadn't built any in the spec I need due to my conditions so have had to wait for a factory order. It should initially have been around 2 months but has since been delayed by another month. I'd strongly recommend choosing a prebuilt car under the current circumstances to avoid a long and unpredictable wait.

I agree with @OverlyAnxious I ordered my car at the begining of December a factory built car which was due to be delivered at end of Feb but have also been informed there is a shortage ofmicrochips and it will now be April hopefully.

I already have a car but my wife says it makes sense to get one through the scheme. I only bought my car 14 months ago for £5,000 but now i will only get about £2,300 for it for a quick sale, or if i sold it private then it would be £3,400. Not sure if garages buy cars or not. Anyway, i have spoken to one of the showrooms that runs the scheme, and they have asked me if i want to pay for the following

Supagard paint and upholstery protection with 3 year warranty normall we sell for £199, but to motability customer just £99.

I would like to know if this is worth paying for. The last thing i want to do is to return the vehicle and then find out that i have to pay money for any damage to the interior or to paintwork.

It's up to you really. If you have kids or pets that make a mess inside then it might be worth it. (Liquid spills rather than dry dirt)

Equally, if you're unable to wash the car yourself, or have it washed regularly, then maybe it's worth it on the exterior.

It's only like a long term wax though, it won't stop any damage to the paint like chips and scratches.
