Medical Jewellery
Hi All,
this probably isn’t the right thread to ask this question so apologies, as some of you may know I work in an NHS trust. I’ve worked there for a number of years as a receptionist and now have been redeployed medically to my new department.
I wear my MedicAlert Jewellery to symbolise I have a medical condition. Today I was stopped on a ward by one of the practice educators for wearing something on my wrist no it wasn’t my watch and I don’t wear rings but my medical jewellery. Since that happened it’s been bugging me so I emailed our Infection Control team, HR and Occupational Health. With the question I’m sure medical bracelets are exempt from the no jewellery policy.

I also passed this on to our disability forum to pick up as I am one of the cochairs and they agree with me it should be exempt but we need clarification
sorry this is a bit of a long post but wonder if anyone else has been in this position?
