I been awarded pip do I need to tell universal credit

Hi just a question do I need to inform universal credit about my pip award ?as I don’t want to get a penalty for not informing them

    You should.
    Is your claim a single claim or do you have a partner included?
    Are you under 35 with a housing element on a single person claim?
    Do you have any non dependants living with you?
    Depending on your circumstances/answers to above questions getting PIP (if it includes the Daily Living component) could increase your UC entitlement.

    hi 
    my universal credit claim is a joint one with my partner and i am 39 and my partner is 31 and we are in temporary accommodation so housing benefit not universal credit are paying the rent and we have 3 children ages are 2 and 3 and 13 i also have limited capability for work and don't get any thing extra for that and my pip award is enhanced daily living i just though being DWP they inform everyone like they informed housing benefit already so wont they just tell UC ?

    General advice is never to assume DWP will communicate between departments. Even if they do the information may be overlooked.

    As your PIP includes Daily Living your partner can inform UC that she cares for you and this will increase your UC by £163.73/month.

    Are you claiming Carer’s allowance, you won’t get any extra unless you are officially receiving CA and  meet the criteria for claiming work wise.

    That is not correct.

    The requirement for getting the carer element of UC is that you meet the qualifying conditions for CA excluding the earnings limit. Unlike legacy benefits, it is not necessary to claim Carer’s Allowance in order to get the carer element of UC. There is no financial benefit to claiming CA because it is deducted in full from UC. Importantly also there are people who are excluded from claiming CA because they earn more than £128/week who can still get the carer element of UC.
