DWP confirmed they'd received my forms 9th March. I still haven't heard anything- is this normal?

Hi,
I applied for PIP on 31st December by phone. I got an extension to return the forms & they confirmed they received them on 9th March.
I have heard nothing since, no letter, no phone call. Does anyone know if that's a normal timescale? When will I expect to hear something?

Did you have a phone assessment takes 12 weeks after recording to Google

No, haven't received anything at all. I was supposed to have a telephone call health assessment for ESA last Thursday, but they cancelled & I'm waiting for a new appointment. I don't think the ESA & PIP are linked though.

Hi @MandySH - & welcome to the community. :)  Unfortunately it can take some time before you would normally get an assessment, & it would be difficult to say when you'd hear. As you rightly say, ESA & PIP are completely separate benefits.

Waits for assessments can be much longer than 12 weeks.

Hi @ chiarieds, thank you for the welcome & your comment. It's just so stressful waiting & waiting. I think I will leave it another week & then maybe I will chase them. I will keep you updated ?

Welcome to the community @MandySH :) As chiarieds has said, it can unfortunately take a little while before you hear back from them regarding an assessment. Waiting times can vary, so that's why it's hard to give you an exact timeframe. It's easier said than done, but try not to worry too much about it in the meantime. If it'd help you to feel more prepared, you could take a look over your application and think about what points you might like to get across during an assessment, bearing in mind the descriptors (pipinfo.net).

Hi @ Tori_Scope, thank you for your comment. I actually thought at one point that they may of shredded my application & thinking all sorts. Sadly, that's my OCD & paranoia talking. I appreciate they must be busy, I just worry about everything.

I rang and made a claim on the 26th jan they received my forms back on the 28th feb i had my assessment 2 weeks ago and its currently with my case manager awaiting a decision i rang today and they said i should have a decision in the next 2 weeks. When i phoned in march for an update they told me there's a 3-4 month wait but remember it's all backdated good luck ?

It's understandable @MandySH, and you're certainly not the only one to find the wait anxiety-inducing. Are you getting enough support for your OCD and paranoia at the moment?

I sent my re assessment of at beginning of Feb after contacting them in Jan. I still haven't had a date through for an assessment. I contacted dwp over a month ago and they said it was with the assessors. I contacted the assessors and they stated they had had it since Feb 23rd but still don't have a date for a telephone consultation as yet.

I put my new claim in for PiP on the 4th dec last year, got my text to say they had received my form on the 18th dec and just had my phone assessment today!!! Over 6 months. You can ring them but it makes no difference as I found out. You just have to sit tight and wait for your text with your assessment date. Good luck
