Motobility for electric wheelchair or buy outright?

Good morning, I would welcome some advice. If you get an electric wheelchair on lease from the Motobility Scheme, do you end up paying lots more than buying it outright? I know you get breakdown cover etc included, but it looked to me that you might pay about three times more - does anyone have any experience of this please?

Hi there
The trouble with the scheme it is only leased and never yours and you need to have your enhanced award for the scheme so if you lose award it is taken away
If you can personally I would buy but then you get insurance and stuff1 -
Thank you so much, that’s how it seemed to me but I wasn’t sure0

I have owned my own mobility scooter since receiving my diagnosis and claiming PIP and paying for insurance and replacement tyres, batteries and doing my own puncture repairs ect I am better off money wise and the scooter is mine the same with the car.1

Mine is 2nd hand gifted by a friend
Only problem is no warranty or anything and not selected for me but I get good use and will use it till it is no good anymore0 -
That's great, what a nice friend. I have looked at second hand ones on eBay & might get lucky there, but I think we will need to visit a showroom first & try a few out to see which ones my husband is able to control as he can only use his left hand accurately. We don’t want to run anyone over!0
