Ty ami, I have read that people who tried transferring from dla to pip might be due a refund if they were turned down, how do I find out if I am eligible

Hi @Seany72 - & welcome to the community.

I haven't heard of such a refund, &, as the criteria for DLA are different to PIP, sadly some of those who were on DLA don't qualify for PIP. Can you remember where you read this?

It's been on Google news, the people who was doing the assessments made a lot of mistakes apparently and the government have already awarded millions to people who was refused, I do claim pip now but when I was meant to go from dla to pip I was refused but claim now under different circumstances

I thought of the changes in PIP law too @Luna51 - but Seany72 said it was about people moving from DLA to PIP. I'm sure we would have heard about it if this was happening, so perhaps something poorly reported.....won't be the first time!

There is certainly some discussion about people who may have been affected, as in the MH case, where many people would have hopefully been reviewed by the DWP if now considering 'overwhelming psychological distress' considered in conjunction with the 'Planning & following a journey' descriptor. The DWP stated that they would only look at those cases where potentially getting more points would culminate in a person being awarded the standard rate for the mobility component, or it might increase a standard award to that of enhanced. However, this is just about PIP, & not the migration from DLA to PIP as originally mentioned, so I'm a bit lost off.

Whilst freely admitting that a B & W's guide on PIP probably helped my PIP claim, this was made freely available by my condition's support group ....free subscription for 2 years. When I joined Scope, I found way more appropriate info, & agree with woodbine, why pay for advice when it's freely available? So I'm a cynic too.
