Hi, I’m new here and have only found out today that a PIP award doesn’t ensure that your NI contributions are maintained (something of a shock). Is this also true if you have Working Family Tax credits, or does that entitle me to NI credits?
I’ve just tried to claim the new type ESA but been refused on the basis of not having paid enough contributions.

Hi @Lescol241 - welcome to the community, & thank you for joining. There's some info here on NI credits, with a section on Working Tax Credit, which class of NI credit may apply, & a link so you can check your NI record. Please see: https://www.gov.uk/national-insurance-credits/eligibility Hope that helps.

Hello @Lescol241
Welcome to the community, how are you today?
Has the above response been helpful in clearing up any confusion?0 -
Hi Ross, thanks for reaching out. As a newbie I’m looking forward to learning from the community. The answer provided was clear and really helpful. It would seem that a lot of the things in assumed to be true, aren’t. It’s reassuring to know that there is a place that’s highly recommended where I can go to check my facts and improve my own knowledge.
