Hi, I am new here and have just applied for pip. I have received my form and need help filling it in. The thing is that I do not know where to start, i.e. Questions 3 and onwards. I need someone like the job centre to help as I am claiming UC. I asked via my journal (on July 9th) and was told that some one would help. After leaving several messages on my journal, I still have no help! My form has to be returned by July29 2021. Is there any other body I can turn to who will examine my evidence and decide what is appropriate to send in? The other thing is that I do not have a photocopier to copy evidence, nor the cash to pay 15p per copy, (I am struggling that much!).
Please will somebody help me, I live alone and have no one for support?
Thanks for any advice.

DWP will not provide you with help filling in forms.
Use this link https://advicelocal.uk to see if you can find someone who can help you.
Ring DWP and ask for an extension on the return date.1 -
Hi there and welcome to the community
Try to contact cab or welfare rights for help with your form
The job centre don't normally help with them
The time to return forms has been extended to 3 months now from what I understand
If you need an extension you can call and request this
As for copies I'm sorry but there isn't really any other way than to pay for them unless cab can help
There is lots of info on here about applying look in our pip section
The best way to do the form is take each section and explain in full with real examples of what happened when you try and do the task
If you need support who supports you what do they do, do you need aids
If you can't do the task why not , can you do it safely and reliably and repeated
What are the consequences of trying to do the task
Hope this helps
Ask any questions your want we will try and help1 -
janer1967 said:@calcotti just to let you know another member rang pip today about returning forms and was told that they have 3 months to return
They had been sent a reminder letter but on enquiry was told it was a mistake1 -
Thank you for your advice. Because of the time it is now, the only thing that I can do at the moment is ring PIP or DWP and ask for more time as I really need some one in person to show me what I can or can't do?
Thank you once again.
Kindest regards

Hi @philby7 - welcome to the community. As mentioned above, do ring the PIP enquiry number 0800 121 4433 to say you need longer to complete your claim form....they will give you another 2 weeks. Now, don't panic, even if you talk to someone else about your claim form, you are still going to have to tell them how your disability affects you, so you can do this.If you haven't come across the activities/descriptors that are looked at with PIP, now is the time to do so. This link should be helpful: https://www.cambridgeshire.gov.uk/asset-library/Personal-Independence-Payment-Descriptors-and-Scores-April-2021.pdfIf you have problems with mental health, this may be better: https://www.mentalhealthandmoneyadvice.org/en/welfare-benefits/pip-mental-health-guide/help-with-your-pip-claim/how-to-fill-in-the-pip-form/It might be an idea to keep a simple diary for a few days/a week; sometimes we get so used to how we cope/manage some of the activities that you forget that others without a disability don't have to do this. Just write down anything that you struggle with whether it be difficulty with physical/mental health problems. Once you've listed your conditions, what really matters with your claim form is not your condition(s), but, as the booklet says, 'How your disability affects you.' For each activity you have difficulty with try & give 2 really detailed examples as to what happens when you attempt/do this. So, say when it happened recently, what exactly happened, why did you have difficulty, did someone witness it, & what. if any were the consequences of this, e.g. did it leave you exhausted, breathless, in pain, did it worsen anxiety? Did you need help/support, did you need prompting, did you have to use an aid, etc.?If you can't do an activity 'reliably,' you may also gain points.....so, can you do an activity safely, to an acceptable standard, can you repeat it as often as you'd like, or does it take you longer than someone who doesn't have your disability? It's this sort of detailed individual response that will help you with your PIP claim. Hope this helps, & do come back with any questions.0

@philby7 Hello, has our members advice helped you in taking the next steps? Are you able to call PIP to ask for an extension?
You mentioned that you are really struggling money-wise, and I wondered if you were coping okay for food, etc.? Please let us know if not as we wouldn't want you to go through this alone. If you'd prefer to discuss this privately, then you can email the team at community@scope.org.uk
Feel free to ask any further questions and take care.
