LCWRA is part of UC (or ESA for which it is called Support Group). Both ESA and UC are working age benefits. The only time you would be Pension age and entitled to LCWRA is if you are part of a ‘mixed age couple’ (meaning you have a younger partner) and are claiming UC.1

No its a working age element of uc
It 7s awarded to those claiming uc and after going through the work capability process are found to be unable to work or carry out any work related activity
It isn't available to those of retirement age

AsI said in my first reply ESA Support Group is what LCWRA is known as for ESA. You are already being treated as having LCWRA and the money you get for that is the Support component of your ESA award.
Is this the old type of ESA you claim or is it new style ESA? Does your partner claim benefits o4 are they working?0 -
@calcotti aaww right ok Thankyou for your knowledgeable help I’m useless lol. So with regards to my partner he claims UC how do he no if he’s entitled to LWRCA what are the requirements. Thankyou xx

To get lcwra he has to report a medical condition on his uc account
Then provide fit notes and after 28 days his work coach should refer him for work capability assessment
He will fill in uc50 form and have a assessment to then have decision maker decide what group he is in
However as a couple you can only get lcwra for one claimant in a couple
So I'm not sure are you claiming uc as a couple?0 -
Can you clarify if you and your partner live together in which case you are both claiming UC while you get ESA too or do you not live together and are claiming benefits separately?0
-
@calcotti No we don’t live together we can’t not with my mental health. We’re on and off all the time ? x0
-
@calcotti he claims UC just for himself x0

That makes things simpler in terms of his UC claim @charlotte84. If he's unfit for work, he needs to follow the advice @janer1967 has given above and begin handing in fit notes to UC. He does not need to be receiving PIP to receive LCWRA (the exception to this is if he is working more than 16 hours a week or earning more than the equivalent of 16 hours at National Minimum Wage).
Is he currently working?0 -
Sorry @janer1967, you may have misunderstood my post. I'm not saying you can't work and receive LCWRA, you can.
However, to be referred for a WCA you need to be working less than 16 hours per week OR be in receipt of PIP, DLA, AA or AFIP.
Once awarded LCWRA/LCW you're correct that there are no restrictions to hours.
