I requested a PIP review, but I'm not sure if I have done the right thing

Hi all, I have just received my award review - how your disability affects you form in the post today. I rang pip last week after a support worker had suggested that I rang them and asked them to look at my claim again. I was awarded 11 points for the daily living so was only 1 point off getting the enhanced daily living rate. My support worker said that pip got a lot of claims wrong over the pandemic and that's why I should ring up and ask them to look at it again. I was gave the award on May 2020 but now I have the form through, I don't know if I have done the right thing. Could I lose my pip award after they look at my claim again? Also does anyone have any advice you can give me?

    Thanks for your post, I hope you are well.

    A PIP review in some ways is like a fresh claim in that they look at everything again, so yes you would be able to lose your award, but on the other hand your award could increase as suggested by your support worker.

    You should approach it like a new claim, and explain how your condition impacts you in relation to the descriptors, and provide anecdotal evidence of what happens when you try and do the activities. Your support worker could also provide an accompanying letter for you, assuming they know the details of how your condition impacts you.

    They will look at the whole award again based on the information you provide. Regardless of whether or not you 'have done the right thing' you must now complete the form and return it.
