Hi and welcome to the community

You will only have to move to uc if you claim housing benefit and move to different local council area

No one is put on UC automatically. You can only receive UC if you apply for it.

ESA and PIP are not affected by a change of address - you just need to inform DWP.

However, as janer says, if you also claim Housing Benefit and move to a different local authority you cannot take the Housing Benefit with you. Unless you will be in supported accommodation you cannot make a new HB claim so if you want help with rent you would have to apply for UC. Applying for UC will end income based ESA. PIP is not affected.

Hello @harry_baldy56 and a welcome to the community from me too.

Have the answers received helped alleviate some of your worry around moving?  If you have anything else you're unsure of, please do ask.

Just to let you know (and avoid confusion!), I've moved your thread to our Universal Credit category so others in a similar position will spot your post easier.

Take care and I hope you have a lovely Thursday.
