Hello @Naomigibbons
Welcome to the community, good to see you join us.
Sorry to hear that your son didn't get the job, do you think he was refused due to his disability? It appears as though that is what you are suggesting.0 -
Yes.
also they also lied to me saying there was other applicants more suitable.
but when they published minutes from there agm.
1 applied that was not suitable!!
no explanation to me as why??0 -
Hi and welcome to the community
Sorry to hear about your son job application
Unfortunately employer do not really have to give reasons for not employing somebody and in most cases will say there were more suitable applicants
You could approach it by asking them for feedback on his application so he can use the feedback for applying for other jobs
Unfortunately in the current employment market there are many applicants fighting over vacant roles0 -
he was the only applicant.
thank you for your feedback.0 -
It will be very hard to prove he wasn’t appointed due to disability because I doubt they gave that as the reason for not employing him.0
-
If you feel it was. due to his disability then challenge it
Did he meet the minimum requirements of the job profile ?
You can get advice from ACAS regarding employment0 -
Hi @Naomigibbons
I'm sorry to hear that your son didn't get the job.
If you want to look further into the discrimination route, you might find this page on the Citizens Advice website helpful.
It's good to hear that your son is keen to start working. Scope actually have a few employment services, that help disabled people to enter employment. Perhaps you could take a look to see if they might be suitable for your son?0
