Able to take nutrition

Hiya
So on my original PIP form I explained that most days I have zero motivation to eat a meal...living on cups of tea, coffee, copious amounts of milk along with a cake or a few biscuits, maybe bowl of cereal.
My assessor asked if my GP had expressed any concerns about my weight, which they hadn't so although I got points for meal prep, got nothing for eating.

I recently asked my GP if they could investigate why I felt so tired all the time and blood tests showed I was vitamin D difficiant  which I have previously been, in winter but I've spent so much time just not leaving the house so I was prescribed two 8oo iu of vit D for six months.

I was also found to be iron difficiant so prescribed 200mg a day for three months and folic acid deficient so prescribed 5mg of this for three months.

So, I know the vit D and Iron deficiency are things that can make you tired but would any of this have any impact on the PIP form about taking adequate nutrition?
Obviously the  vit D is due to my hardly leaving the house and not to do with nutrition intake.
Any advice appreciated. :)

    Hi cress

I'm no expert but I think points for eating relate to the task of eating eg can you feed yourself,  can you swallow,  can you digest,  do you eat liquid diet etc

What you describe isn't about the ability to eat more about the motivation to eat which I think is covered in the prep food which you have scored points for

As I say I'm no expert on the descriptors and what is covered where so hope others can help

You can score points for needing prompting to take nutrition.

Had another look at the descriptors and think I may be able to score four points for needs prompting to eat due to lack of motivation with depression..
    I'll argue for that... :)
Which alone would take me to enhanced from standard.
And point out the prescribed vitamin pills which may or may not change anything..

Bear in mind that the quality of nutrition is not taken into account.

Never rains but it pours lol
At least its been discovered, hope you feel better soon.

While ago when I went for blood tests, I mentioned I'd missed cholesterol test which was still high even on meds

The nurse told me not to worry the tests she was taking were for everything.
I though 'oh good, they might find why I'm so tired all the time.
Anyway, apparently they showed raised platelets (no clue what that means)
But when I asked did they show anything that might cause this tiredness she said no, they hadn't tested for that...lol

They tested again and found the vit and iron deficiencies.

I  wondering if I should  just take multi vitamins, as I've had it a long time going on the symptoms. Takes the folic acid 3 weeks to start properly working. Have they given you meds for it @Cress

Multi vitamins are ok but the GP can prescribe in higher doses for you which is probably what you need...
I've been put on folic acid 5mg ferrous sulphate 200 mg twice a day and two 800iu of vit D ...suppose will find out more about what the problem is when I stop taking them...see if it recurs but I'm assuming it's because I'm not eating or going out enough.

I don't know why I have to buy folic acid over counter at 400 which is standard dose for 4 months until bloods again, or eat lots of sprouts lol

I was given 4 points for needing prompting to eat due to lack of motivation from depression and anxiety about talking to housemates. My GP didn't see me, so didn't know. My counsellor did include it in her letter tho.
