Feeling Old

My mind seems to be wandering back to the past and at times to the future.
I think about the things I have done, should have, or not done. Things I might do, should, or want to do.
When I was younger, a long time ago now. I did not listen to advice given from the older generation, just like the youth of today don't listen today. Nothing wrong with that really. I looked to the future, just like they do after all.
I know about my past, obviously. I have no idea what the future holds for me. (I hope it's good) ?
For some reason today everything globally looks rather bleak and all around seems to be doom and gloom. The world is changing as is this country. I'm not sure if I would want to start again as things appear to be.
Maybe I was one of those that started out in the best of times. Things and people certainly appeared happier back then. Then maybe like all others of my age, we all think like that?
We didn't have the technology we have now, but we did at least have jobs to go to and a future to build. Many today say they do not.

I don't want to appear to be gloomy, because I'm not. ?
Just my daily thought.
Maybe I am old.?‍?
Pleas comment if you like, I would like to hear from you.

I wonder how much is down to the news companies?

Doom and gloom sells more papers and gets more internet traffic

I reckon there is plenty of good stuff happening at the moment!

Hi @Dragonslayer, it's strange to read your thoughts because they reflect my thoughts in the last few days.
Someone I knew as a child died recently and this churned up lots of conflicting thoughts and feelings. He was a very beautiful and talented man, especially in his 20s and 30s. Then time started catching up with his looks, as it does with most of us. I keep looking at photos of when he was young and wondering why is life like this? Most of us start life eager, with fairly good looks and healthy, full of hopes and dreams. But life takes away most of the perks of youth... I don't even recognise myself any more, though most of my problems stem from various illnesses, not old age. I do sometimes wonder if life is worth living now that I can't even walk but in my brighter moments I feel that yes, it's worth me carrying on because I can still use my brain and sometimes my arms when pain allows.
I suppose we each have to find our own way through life and develop coping mechanisms.

I used to constantly watch rolling news channels, never missed PMQs or Question time, all the politics shows...

I don't watch any of them now for my own good!

I don't watch any news programmes anymore either...  I use the BBC red button to check daily headlines and only read more into the ones I choose to.

Personally I do feel like the future is bleak at the moment.  Covid has changed the world for ever.  There's a climate crisis.  A housing crisis.  Too few jobs.  Too many people, not enough money (where it's needed anyway!).

I do wish I'd been born 10-20 years earlier, it's not just an 'old' thing.  But I also don't know how I'd have got on back then without internet and less understanding and acceptance around 'differences'.  I've been watching comedies on iPlayer recently, mostly ones I've watched before, but some of the content and jokes now feel uncomfortable and wouldn't be shown nowadays...even just 15 years ago.  Didn't think anything of them first time round.  I suppose there's always an element of rose tinted specs...

It's interesting to read your thoughts and comments.
I too like @Cress. @OverlyAnxious. don't watch the news anymore. If anything, it's just mainly the headlines. News today is just bad news because it grabs the headlines. We need more good news.
Covid does have a lot to do with it like @Teddybear12 says. But growing old and becoming disabled also has a lot to add.
At the end of the day. 'Growing old sucks' ?
