Does pip mean your disabled

PIP is a disability benefit.

Legally you’re disabled under the Equality Act 2010 if you have a physical or mental impairment that has a ‘substantial’ and ‘long-term’ negative effect on your ability to do normal daily activities.

Someone in receipt of PIP would, in general, meet this definition, but impacts resulting from some conditions are excluded so some PIP claimants might not be legally disabled.

A curious feature is that someone diagnosed with cancer and some other conditions is legally disabled even though the cancer may have no adverse impact at the time of diagnosis.
