Hi I am a single mother to an autistic teen, I claim income support-I would like to start selling my own crafts at home online -it seems a very complicated process - I will not be able to rely on a ‘living wage’ income every month and am frightened to take the step incase it leaves me not able to pay my rent and bills - has anyone on here taken the plunge and how were your benefits affected Thanks

Hi and welcome to the community
I don't know the answer to your question but somebody will once they see your post0 -
HI,When claiming Income Support you'll be able to earn a maximum of £20 per week, anything more than this and your IS will be reduced £1 for £1 so for example, if you earn £25 per week then your Income Support will be reduced by £5. You will need to tell DWP that you're working. You could also use a benefits calculator to check entitlement to Universal Credit or if you're not sure how to complete the calculator correctly then have a full benefits check from an advice agency near you.A claim for UC will end any tax credits you may already be claiming. If you claim housing benefit then this will continue for 2 weeks and then transfer to UC.0

Hello @bellabur
Welcome to the community, good to see you join us and I hope the above replies have been helpful. Exciting to hear that you make your own crafts, is that a hobby you've had for a while?0
