Copy of pip report. Does the assessor give the points? The write up contradicts the scores?

I can’t make sense of my pip report. I had my assessment a few weeks ago, rang and asked for a copy which I’ve been sent. It’s been ticked 0 points on all questions but then the typed write up contradicts itself. Does the assessor give the points? It looks as though the computer has automatically ticked the top answer for each question or is it likely a score of 0

HI,The report is the HCP's opinion on how your conditions affect you. The computer doesn't have any involvement with ticking the boxes, the HCP ticks those and they are recommendations only. The report makes up part of your evidence that the decision maker uses to make their decision. They often go with the report but have been known to go against it.You can contact DWP to speak to a case manager regarding the report which may or may not help. Other than that all you can do is wait for the decision and if you're not happy then request the MR once the decision is made.0

It condradicts hisself he has wrote I have difficulty going out and won’t go out alone as I have panic attacks then has ticked can go out on my own absolutely fine I don’t understand it. Also has said I was calm and fine on the phone when infact I was on the verge of a panic attack and very upset at one point I apologised for crying.0

Hi @rachw89 - & welcome to the community. I found with my assessment report that the assessor wrote down what I said, but then later gave her opinion (as Poppy said) & then a tick against each activity/descriptor, with her justification for each. I wonder if that's how your report was. This is just part of your claim, & the decision maker will look at all of the evidence, as Poppy says.

I didn’t send any other evidence, I hardly talk to my gp because of covid. When I do it’s a quick update on my medication over the phone for my anxiety. The assessor is basically saying I’m a liar.0

They are not saying you’re lying. The assessment is part of the process to gather more evidence. It’s not for them to write what you say word for word, if it was there would be no point In having the assessment. They have their opinion based on your PIP2 form and the assessment. You can ring DWP to speak to a decision maker as advised. Otherwise all you can do is wait for the decision and if you’re not happy once it’s made you request the MR.0

They have written what I’ve said then underneath written something that contradicts like I told them I am unable to prepare a meal and my relative cooks for me, I regularly use a kettle or microwave and then underneath written is likely to prepare a meal so I don’t really understand it0
-
It will also be their opinion that they’ve written. The report is part of the evidence used to make the decision.
When you said you can’t prepare a meal, did you tell them why you’re unable to do this and why someone does it for you?Did you give a couple of real life examples of what happened the last time you attempted that activity? This is what you should have done for each descriptor that applies to you.0 -
Yes I told them because of my depression I don’t have the energy, he states this but then said is likely to prepare a meal. It’s also on all the questions, I will ring them Monday to discuss it with someone. As I’m so stressed and anxious from this. Also their is a written statement from the assessor about how I seen during the call I was very upset, had to pause to get my breath a few times as I felt panic setting in, he stated I was calm and friendly.0

Thankyou for your replies0

What you really should do is tell them why you can't do the activity with as much detail as possible. Adding a couple of real life examples of what happened the last time you attempted that activity also helps. Just telling them you don't have the energy isn't enough of detail. If the worst happens and you're refused then this is what you should do for the MR.0

I have had the decision back 0 points but it said I can ask for a mandatory reconsideration, it has made me unbelievably anxious, do I how call them for this? I feel as if I don’t want to speak to them again as my anxiety is through the roof so my mom has said she will call and speak to them is she allowed to speak on my behalf? I do t know what other evidence I could put forward to change the decision,I’ve given them all the evidence.0
-
You don't need to ring them to request this, you can either use this form https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/challenge-a-decision-made-by-the-department-for-work-and-pensions-dwpOr you can write a letter. You state you've given them all the evidence but have you given a couple of real world examples for each descriptor that applies to you? If you haven't then you should do this stating what exactly happened, where you were and what the consequences were. Ideally you should aim for at least one A4 sheet of paper per descriptor.Medical evidence is only useful if it states exactly how your conditions affect you and most don't.0

Thankyou, can I print the form off and fill out?0

Yes I have a few over the phone during the assessment, I told the assessor last time I went out to a supermarket I had a panic attack vomited, got very upset and went home, haven’t been out on my own since. The assessor said I was calm on the phone when in fact I took a few breaks to calm myself down and was very upset.0
