I'm here because I'm trying to be more open about my disabilities and less ashamed.
It's a struggle for me, but I want to be more accepting of myself as I am with others.
I'm in a happy relationship with someone who isn't disabled and sometimes I struggle to speak up for myself when my needs are different.

Welcome to the community @Ivypots
It's great to have you with us.
I think many people find it difficult to be accepting of themselves, and can feel shame at times. Have you been able to have a think about what you think might be causing these kinds of feelings? Do the thoughts you have around yourself and your conditions revolve around one specific thing, or a mix of things?
It's good to hear that you're in a happy relationship. Communicating your needs can be really difficult, but it's definitely important in maintaining a positive and healthy relationship. If you're not always comfortable speaking up when your needs are different yet, have you tried opening up a conversation about this with your partner? Expressing that you don't always feel you can speak up should allow you to find ways together to make you feel more comfortable doing so. Do you think your partner would be open to a conversation about this?0
