    Hi,
You need to be 16 before you can apply for PIP. If you're currently claiming DLA for him, when he's invited to apply for PIP you can ask to become his appointee when you ring PIP to start the claim off.

Hi and welcome to the community

You can contact pip to become an appointee if your son lacks capacity to manage the claim

It will mean in most cases you get all his correspondence,  speak for him and his payments will be sent to you

Welcome to the community @krysnjode1:) I hope that the above comments have been helpful. Do you feel more confident in becoming an appointee for your son when needed?

I applied for appointee fo3 my adult daughter.  Her disability means she will not touch mail, can't always use phone etc. due to contamination issues.  DWP suggested it and were helpful .
