Is it easy to apply to be an appointed deputy for financial and welfare? Or do I need a lawyer?

My daughter is in the process of transitioning to adult services and I need to become her appointed deputy for both financial and welfare. My question is, is it easy enough to apply personally or would using a lawyer be better.

    I haven't been through the process myself, so I can't offer advice in that sense, but I did some reading and found this page on Oratto's website, which says:
    Is a solicitor needed to submit a Deputyship application?

    A solicitor can make an application on your behalf, but this is not essential. Guidance is available on www.gov.uk or by contacting the Court staff who will be able to assist you with general queries and provide basic guidance. The Court cannot provide any legal advice or services, and so many people find the assistance of a solicitor helpful when making a Deputyship application.
