Pip called me this morning to tell me I have been awarded but couldn’t tell me what rate they said the reason for there call is to see if I would be ok with a lump sum payment of backpay? Has anybody else had this and what rate was it?? I just think it’s abit odd?

Hi there
They do sometimes do this if there is a substantial amount to he 0aid they are just checking that you will be OK to manage the money
This doesn't give any indication of what rate you have been awarded you will have to wait for 5he letter and in the meantime be pleased you have been awarded0 -
I am pleased to have been awarded!!! Did any of my question indicate I wasn’t??1

Yes as janer has advised, they do sometimes check you can manage the money that's owed. I see nothing odd at all about that.

Oh well that’s fine will leave it there your the expert0

The reason they ask if you can manage the money with backpay is because some people panic when they have large amounts and are unsure how to cope with this, especially those that suffer with mental health. All we are doing is advising you why they asked you that question, which is exactly what you asked.1

Thank you @Teddybear120

They are now required to do this before paying large sums to claimants. You have the option of receiving the arrears in instalments if you are concerned about your ability to manage a large one off sum.Bleulagoon said:.. there call is to see if I would be ok with a lump sum payment of backpay? ..
