Hi guys looking for advice regarding Carers element of UC..
My mum is my full time carer and was awarded Carers allowance on the 18/02/2019 when I was awarded PIP.
My mum is my full time carer and was awarded Carers allowance on the 18/02/2019 when I was awarded PIP.
My mum had to come off job seekers and claim UC but wasn’t made aware that she is entitled to the Carers element even though she made them aware by journal that she is now a carer.
She has now written in her journal explaining this and how she wasn’t made aware. I understand by research this can be passed over to a decision maker to decide. Will the Carers element be backdated from the I was awarded PIP? Thank you

If she was claiming Carers allowance from the start of her UC claim then the carers element should have also been added, i see no reason why it shouldn't be back dated. The only time it can't be paid would be if your mum also receives the LCWRA element herself.

Hi Bobs, I'm going through a similar thing right now. Was it backdated for you to the start of the claim for carers allowance in the end? Thanks.bobs97 said:Hi guys looking for advice regarding Carers element of UC..
