Health assessment

Hello, I have very recently returned my UC50 along with supporting evidence including a lengthy letter from my GP detailing my health issues and basically saying that going to work could quite literally kill me!…(I am off the back of a large number of times being placed on a life support machine and my conditions aren’t expected to improve).
My question is - do they always ask you to have an assessment or can they go on the paperwork alone? An actual assessment will be profoundly difficult for me both physically and psychologically. I am worrying terribly.

Most people have an assessment either f2f or by phone however it is rare for a paper based assessment but they do happen0
