Hi 5years ago I had sepsis,so this left me being a quadruple amputee and lost my nose and lips,
anyway I’m now on benefits and pip , my dad has offered to help by giving me the money for going private for the surgery on my face, so my question is will I lose all my benefits I.e housing and council benefits will it be like I’ve got money? Thanks for your time.

    Hi,
If the money will take your savings/capital to more than £16,000 then all means tested benefits will end. For council tax reduction some local Authorities have a maximum savings limit of £6,000. PIP isn’t affected.
There will be a reduction in your benefits if £1 for every £250 or part there of over £6,000.
If it takes your total savings over the limit them maybe it would be better to ask your dad to pay for the surgery directly, rather than give you the money.

Very interesting and important question @Teddybear12. Thanks for raising this question with us. Unfortunately, this is not an area of my expertise which means I cannot comment. I can only hope someone with more knowledge in this area is able to respond soon  :)

Thanks for all the helpful advice, yes I guess I’m very nervous firstly to find the right surgeon and then the results as I need reconstruction plastic surgery on my nose and lips so very important to get this right, I have been on a NHS list for 3years but I really need this done now its getting me really down now,
thats why my amazing dad has offered to pay privately,I’m very lucky.
