Hi 5years ago I had sepsis,so this left me being a quadruple amputee and lost my nose and lips,
anyway I’m now on benefits and pip , my dad has offered to help by giving me the money for going private for the surgery on my face, so my question is will I lose all my benefits I.e housing and council benefits will it be like I’ve got money? Thanks for your time.

Hi,
If the money will take your savings/capital to more than £16,000 then all means tested benefits will end. For council tax reduction some local Authorities have a maximum savings limit of £6,000. PIP isn’t affected.
There will be a reduction in your benefits if £1 for every £250 or part there of over £6,000.
If it takes your total savings over the limit them maybe it would be better to ask your dad to pay for the surgery directly, rather than give you the money.1 -
Thank you so much that’s very helpful.0

Very interesting and important question @Teddybear12. Thanks for raising this question with us. Unfortunately, this is not an area of my expertise which means I cannot comment. I can only hope someone with more knowledge in this area is able to respond soon

Thanks for all the helpful advice, yes I guess I’m very nervous firstly to find the right surgeon and then the results as I need reconstruction plastic surgery on my nose and lips so very important to get this right, I have been on a NHS list for 3years but I really need this done now its getting me really down now,
thats why my amazing dad has offered to pay privately,I’m very lucky.1
