Becoming a magistrate. Would this affect my benefits?

I have always wanted to be a Magistrate. There is a real shortage of Magistrates right now. It is a voluntary/unpaid role/job.
Is anyone aware whether this specific role would effect my ESA/DLA/CTR etc benefits? Would I be 'working'?

I'm not 100% sure how becoming a magistrate could affect your benefits. However, you might find this page on volunteering and benefits (Citizens Advice) helpful. Perhaps you could give that a read, and see whether there's anything you're still unsure about? 0 -
Working while claiming ESA is called permitted work, whether it's paid or unpaid. If you start working then you will need to report the changes to ESA and fill out a form. https://www.entitledto.co.uk/help/Permitted-Work-RulesIf the work you do contradicts the reasons why you're claiming ESA then it could go against you when you're next reassessed. Same for DLA but you don't need to report working to DLA.
