Hi guys getting back to you again about my situation with the wheelchair my ot was contact  buy  the  wheelchair assessment people they wanted to know when was my last  seizure ,  which was 2 weeks ago my ot thinks it  could be a sticky situation due to me having seizures they may not allow me to have an electric wheelchair she's going to get back in contact with them to see if I could have a manual wheelchair with a bid  whees so  I can try use it and be more independent it's just so frustrating that I'm having to wait on a  carers to move me from place to next places   as I can no longer put my weight down on my legs felling so low and the mo just fell being gone would stop pain and not be a burden on people

    Hi there 

    I'm sorry to hear about your falls and pain 

    Unfortunately wheelchair services are very strict with criteria for electric chairs for health and safety reasons and also if you can use a manual chair that is usually what they will issue 

    Hopefully they will assess you soon and find the most suitable chair for you 

    You are not a burden you are a person who needs some support and assistance 

    I am a full time wheelchair user so I know how you feel I have had to stop using my electric chair due to sight impairment and being a danger to myself and others so now reliant on being pushed in my chair outside the house 

    You will certainly feel a lot safer getting about in a chair and not have the risk of falling

    Yes that's. Very true my ot said the same keeping me safe and other people I would be quite happy with a chair I can push around flat give me back a bit of independence I have my scooter to go out side with from the mobility scheme , I just fell that the carers have a lot to do   with  over 30.people to care for , and I don't want to be a burden that way I live in very sheltered housing with 24-hour care if needed  , thank you for your reply

    A manual chair will be fine round a flat tbh an electric chair can be harder to use indoors unless you have very good control over the steering 

    Only thing with a chair is the height of worktops and cupboards if you are sat in the chair but I manage and you could always get a perching stool for the kitchen 

    In preparation try and build up your upper body strength if you can read for self propelling

    Hi just to give u update on what's going on my OT as spoken to the wheelchair assessment people they said that I can't have an electric chair   unless  I don't have a seizure for a year, but the OT has my measurements so they're going to send me out self propelled  chair to use around the flat , witch is good but don't know how to fell about being in it all the time till I go out on my scooter

    Good news 

    If you can transfer you only need to be in it when moving around you don't need to be in it all the time,  if you can't transfer by standing they have transfer boards speak to your ot

    No the  cares are  helping that way it's for the flat to move around in as I can't walk as my mobility as gone down hill very quickly  not had a wheelchair before it's only an electric wheelchair I had to send it back because off the weight ,

    My physiotherapist is coming in tomorrow to see if there's some type equipment he can help with to as the the walking frame he gave me is why my legs have gone downhill because I used to have a gutter frame witch help with my chair I used , but then they change it and now it's put me to we're my legs can't cope with me walking

    I hope your physio can help you sort out a solution @Ashvinney :) If you can, explain to him exactly how these changes have impacted your mobility, and do keep us updated with how you get on. 

    It's not easy going through all this, but I hope you can get the support that you need soon.
